She is fully vaccinated, chipped, and as far as we know, healthy, as of her last vet visit on Sept 8, 2024. We can give you her HomeAway chip info, her Paxil cream prescription and vet records. Included is an "indoor pet initiative" plan detailed by our veterinarian that can help her adjust.
You can have a box of toys, three self-heating cat mats, a puzzle feeder, two kitty litter boxes, treats, any Science Diet cat food we have leftover, catnip, a cat play post, a carpeted cat sleep pod, her favored scratch pad, and any gabapentin we have leftover.
Beatrix is about 6 or 7 years old, and she's a sweet, loveable, affectionate kitty. We have enjoyed so many good times with her since December 2023, when we rescued her off the street. She loves playing with her "fishing" feather and those kinds of toys the most. She LOVES to cuddle for literally an hour or so at a time if you let her. Sleeps on me at night. Our favorite thing about her is her "bunny kicks" on her toys. She also likes her catnip. And she is obsessed with running water - loves to perch on the side of the tub and watch the water go down the drain when we shower and drink from the bathroom faucet.
But because we rescued her off the street, we didn't know her background. She was fine and loving for 8 months, but then I (her #1 bonded human) went on vacation, wrecked her routine, and she has had episodes of aggression only toward me (not my husband) ever since (August 2024). We've taken her to the vet about it, and now have her on prescription Paxil cream, which is applied to alternate ears 1x/day, gabapentin when she's especially anxious, Feliway in every room. It has definitely helped, but there are still times when things get too loud or hectic for her, and she will start growling at me/stalking me.
Additionally, Bryan is allergic to her, and we are pretty sure we are moving next year.
What she needs is someone who spends a lot of time at home, doesn't travel much, offers a calm environment with no other pets or kids, and has a calm disposition who knows how to handle a kitty with past trauma. And honestly, she will be your best friend. :-)
She was an indoor kitty for those first 8 months, which we preferred, and did pretty well until after the aggressive episodes. We started letting her outside to run off some extra energy, and we thought that was working for a while. But again, the episodes continue.
We are heartbroken, because we adore her, but we think this is best for us but also for her, so she can have a calm environment. Note: NO KIDS. And probably no other pets.
