Mr Darcy came to my parents home in January this year from a friend who found him abandoned and was looking for a family to care for him.
Mr Darcy spent four months under my parents bed, scared and full of anxiety. His coat was corse and he would not let anyone near him. He was not quite sure where he was and if he was safe. We knew then that he must have had a very bad experience before he was found and we brought him home. In May he started to come out and found he enjoyed my fathers recliner sitting all day (sleeping mostly) or being on the sofa watching the humans do what they do. My father found another chair and my Mother has to time her sofa naps around his rotation from chair to sofa... ???? With good food, plenty of water and some healthy snacks his coat is now silky to the touch and shiny. What a handsome boy he is!
We also found he likes to have his face and cheeks rubbed or brushed, he absolutely loves it! However, he does not care to be held, picked up or stroked any other place just yet. He is still skittish and when things get a bit too loud he will seek a quiet place to wait out the noises. As soon as it's quiet, you can find him back on his favorite chair.
A trip to the Vet, he has all his shots and blood work has given him a clean bill of health. There is a dental issue that will need to be addressed in the future, which may help his comfort level.
My parents can care for him for the next month, then they will be moving from Oregon to another State. We are trying hard to find him a good home that continue to care for him. With care we feel strongly he will continue to blossom and become an amazing companion.
